Introduction

The 2018 Winter Event is a seasonal event that will run fom the 3rd of December, 2018 to the 2nd of January, 2019.

How to Participate?

Stars

The player will need Stars to open presents - 10 stars for 1 present.

Stars can be collected in the following ways:

• 20 Stars are given at the beginning of the event.
• 10 Stars are given every day upon the first login.
• Some presents award Stars (generally 14)
• Each solved quest of the main series awards 10 Stars.
• Each solved quest of the bonus series awards 15 Stars.
• The Shuffle Tile gives the player 10 Stars.
• The Show 2 Tile gives the player 3 Stars

Presents Window

To access the presents window, click the Winter Event Button at the left side of the screen of your browser (pictured here) or at the right side in the app. Every day there will be a new set of rewards hidden in the presents. The player uses stars to open them to claim what is hidden inside. The player can open as many presents as they can afford, and win everything over and over again.

Every time you collect a winter quest reward or open a present, a snowfall will start on your town and surrounding area. The effect is quite spectacular, but will not be displayed if Animations under Settings is turned off.

There are also special awards hidden among the presents, which are as follows:

Show 2	Double Payout	Shuffle All

• "Show 2" reveals two random presents on the board and gives the player 3 stars.
• "Double Payout" doubles the reward in the next present to be opened.
• "Shuffle All" resets all the presents. When "Shuffle All" appears, the player needs to press "Start" again and in addition claim 10 new stars.

Among the presents is also the Winter Deco Selection Kit, which let's the player choose one of the following decorations:

Christmas Tree

The purpose of the Christmas Tree is to award the Grand Prize once all the candles are lit, using matchsticks, where matchsticks were obtained through opening presents. Whenever the player opens a present, they will receive a matchstick. The matchsticks won will be stacked up on the top-right of the screen. Next to the playing window is a Christmas Tree. The player should use the matchsticks collected to light up candles on the tree. Any solitary matchstick might randomly light up 1-3 candles on the tree. There are 20 candles to light on each tree. Should a matchstick light more candles than the tree has unlit, the candles on the next tree will be lit. Once the tree is completely lit up, the tree will be refreshed and the assigned Grand Prize will be credited to the player's inventory.

In order to reach the level 12 of the Winter Spire, Level 1 + 11 Upgrades are needed. Completion of all Quests already provides the Level 1 Winter Spire + 3 Upgrades. The remaining 8 Upgrades require 15 Christmas Trees in order to be completed (See Grand Prize Table below). Therefore, it corresponds to 15 x 20 = 300 candles. Since 10 Stars are needed to open a present and to burn the matchstick, the following formula applies :

n_stars / 10 = n_candles / k ; with k as matchstick rate ( 1 < k < 3)

n_stars = 300 x 10 / k ; then 1000 < n_stars < 3000 ; for example if k = 2 then :

n_stars = 300 x 10 / 2 = 1500 Stars required when an average of 2 candles / matchstick are burnt.

Now let's assume that 1500 Stars were collected by solving all quests and connecting daily :

n_candles / k = 1500 / 10 <=> n_candles = 150 k <=> k = n_candles / 150

The Matchstick rate k may be compared with the Treasure Map / Doublon ratio from the Summer Event. Testers on the beta server indicated that there are probably no weighting factors between the 1-candle, the 2- and the 3-candles ignition, the expected ratio k should be about 2 (+/- 0,1) .

Considering a k-value about 2 ; the level 12 of the Winter Spire could be reached from 1500 Stars with a probability of 50 %. With about 1600 Stars (Quests, connexions, bonus), it should be comfortable enough to reach the Winter Spire Level 12. These estimated values depend on a Gaussian distribution, with more or less luck, the final result may be outside the standard deviation of 0,1 (better or worse). The average being k = 2, the probabilities are 2/3 to be inside a 1,9 - 2,1 interval for k-value.

Daily Quests

After completing the main quests, 31 quests, corresponding to each day of the Winter Event, will be presented daily. Depending on the number of days the player takes to complete the main quests, that number of quests will stack when the daily ones start. Lets say it takes 5 days to finish the main questline. After completing that, the player will then immediately receive 5 quests without any delay and after that, one quest per day.
