Anti-Aircraft Vehicle is the ranged unit of the Contemporary Era. It is trained in an Air Defense Factory. 3 of them can also be received from the side quest Mad Influence.
Compared to the MG Team, they upgrade by 20 attack, 25 defense and a great 10 movement points but range stays the same and they lose Dug In. Bonuses against fast units and light units are increased massively and they have terrain bonuses on plains. Likewise, they keep the Contact! ability.
Usage[]
The Anti Aircraft Vehicle, as well as being a great counter to aircraft, is a great unit to use, due to their good range and Contact ability and fast movement, which the MG Team lacked. They are extremely effective when one is used with seven rogues, especially as the rogues transform and retaliate and can be finished off the round afterward, resulting in little/no damage. They are extremely strong against light, fast and artillery units from this age and below, but they are still somewhat vulnerable to heavy units due to their bonuses against the Anti Aircraft Vehicle.
Against Same Age Units[]
Attack Helicopter[]
Obviously by the name, the Attack Helicopter is the primary target for the Anti-Aircraft Vehicle. Both units have good movement and range but the bonuses against fast units and Contact ability proves the Anti Aircraft Vehicle very strong against the Attack Helicopter.
Assault Tank[]
The Anti Aircraft Vehicle is generally weak against the Assault Tank, primarily because of the Assault Tank’s bonuses against ranged units. The Assault Tank’s Reactive Armor ability (cannot take more than 4 hit points of damage per attack) can also limit the Anti-Aircraft Vehicle’s effectiveness against them as well, and the Assault Tank can cause significant damage to the Anti Aircraft Vehicle too.
Strike Team[]
The Anti Aircraft Vehicle is very strong against the Strike Team, particularly with the Anti-Aircraft Vehicle’s bonuses against light units, but also their Contact ability can also retaliate against them even when hidden in forests and their high mobility can easily allows them to reach the Strike Team afterwards.
Missile Artillery[]
The Missile Artillery does have bonuses against ranged units but they aren’t very effective against the Anti-Aircraft Vehicle in practice, due to their substandard attack and an insignificant bonus anyway. The Missile Artillery’s MIRV ability can cause some damage on multiple units, but the Missile Artillery’s One Shot ability means that they are effectively disappeared from battle after one attack and do not pose a threat afterwards.
