The Defense Boost is a feature of some buildings and items to increase the defense value of either the defensive units or the attacking units by a certain percentage. The defense boost can also be activated from the Friends Tavern by paying for it with Tavern Silver.
The defense boost for the attacking army is counted separately from the defending army. In both cases it only benefits the defense value. To increase the offensive stats of the attacking or defending army players may use the attack boost.
When having multiple defense boosts, either from buildings or from items, those percentages are stacked. Then the unit's base defense value is increased by the result.
Defense Boost Providers for Defending Army[]
The following sources increase the defense values of the players troops when they are used for defending. This applies for the City Defense when the player is attacked by another player of their neighborhood and when defending against another player in the PvP Arena. It also applies in Guild Expeditions Level 5 instead of the usual 
Attacking Army values.
Great Buildings[]
Some Great Buildings offer a Fierce Resistance or Advanced Tactics bonus, which beside increasing the defense value also increases the attack value of the defending units.

Defender boost items can be gained from the boost crate, events, Daily Challenges and Incidents. Items can only provide temporary defense boost. The boost effect from the items do stack up, that means players may use multiple boost items at once.
