1.2. Avoid using rude, vulgar, sexist, etc. offensive language in comments, messages, articles, blogs, discussions posts, statuses and even usernames.
1.3. Harassment of any kind including sexual harassment is not permitted.
1.4. Using multiple accounts (sockpuppets) to circumvent blocks is strictly forbidden, and can result in a permanent ban from the site.
1.5. Comments of any kind on religious or political matters will not be tolerated at all, except if directly and obviously connected to in-game content.
1.6. Spamming links to adult and/or offensive content will always result in a permanent ban.
1.7. Refrain from persistent attempts to insert nonsense, gibberish or otherwise incorrect information into articles despite being challenged and/or corrected.
1.8. Do not be disruptive to the working of the wiki. Be a productive member and do not indulge in edit wars or flame wars of any kind.
1.9. Do not instigate drama or systematically spread toxicity, and follow the instructions in official staff warnings. Do not attempt to delete or hide official communication from your message wall.
1.10. Impersonating other users, admins or game-related staff is forbidden.
1.11. This wiki is used by players of different age groups. As such, all texts, images, descriptions etc. have to be appropriate for all ages.
1.12. While interacting with other users, assume good faith. The other user might just be curious or making a mistake. Do not immediately attack them and try to work out the matter amicably amongst yourselves.
1.13. Do not engage in self-promotion of any kind unless expressly permitted by a Bureaucrat. The wiki is a collaborative community resource for the topic at hand. It is NOT a free place to advertise your related website, YouTube channel, blog, social media account, etc.
1.14. Pedantry, i.e., excessive fixation on minor rules of English grammar is heavily discouraged. Disputes regarding different versions of English will not be entertained. A large percent of the wiki's readers are not native English speakers and might find these issues to be confusing.
1.15. Negative criticism and targeted harassment towards a member of the Wiki Team (Bureaucrats, Administrators and Community Moderators) will not be tolerated and will result in a permanent ban. The wiki team are volunteers who are putting their valuable time to enrich the quality of gaming for fellow players.
1.16. Forge of Empires Wiki reserves the right to defend its reputation and integrity within its realms, including the Discussions board and Discord server. Anyone unjustly attacking the wiki and its processes will be permanently banned from the site.

§2 Editing Policy

Please:
2.1. Keep your edits clean and linguistically and grammatically correct. The language of this Wiki is English.
2.2. Be Objective and keep personal comments to the Comments Field in the bottom of all pages. Comment in English.
2.3. Random Editing is to be interpreted as Vandalism or Spamming and can be subject to a ban.
2.4. Ideas of how to make this Wiki better are welcome but share them with the Administrators first before making changes.
2.5. Templates and Pictograms simplify the editing and standardize the page structures of this wiki. Use them wherever possible.
2.6. Use editable Infoboxes while explaining things as they're more portable and render easily on mobile devices.
2.7. Use appropriate Image Formats (e.g. semitransparent .png-files) when posting images to this Wiki.
2.8. Be careful while editing the tables with information and values in them.
2.9. Several types of pages like Changelogs, New Quests and New Buildings have pre-loaded templates which will automatically generate the basic page structure. Use these for ease of editing and achieving standardization of styles.
2.10. Usage of slang and informal language on mainspace articles is not recommended in order to maintain the encyclopediac nature of wiki content.
2.11. Trivia on any articles should be in its own separate section at the bottom of the page and should not mix with the core page content.
2.12. Use Sandboxes for experimenting with code, practising, taking notes or drafting an article. You can find yours here. Sandboxes are a user's personal property, and editing them without the user's prior permission is considered to be in bad taste.
2.13. Fanfiction, game ideas and wish-lists should be restricted to Blogs only.
2.14. Not sure about something? Contact an administrator!
Also mind that:
2.15. Vandalism will not be tolerated and vandals will be immediately blocked.
2.16. Sockpuppets are prohibited and might lead to a ban.
2.17. Any massive change is welcome provided that it is within the wiki's standards and editing policy. Please do inform any Main Administrator before proceeding with the same, though.

§3 Blocking Policy

“Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.”

Blocking is the means by which an administrator prevents a user account or IP address/range from editing the Wiki, either temporarily or permanently (banning). Blocks are preventive rather than punitive measures used to prevent damage by dealing with vandalism and enforcing the Wiki rules and policies.
Block duration may vary, depending on the severity and longevity of vandalism, but in most instances a block can be lifted if the editor agrees to stop the damaging behaviour.
No physical or mental condition shall be considered cause to suspend the enforcement of any policy or rule, including the blocking policy.

Grounds for Blocking and Procedures

3.1. Violations of the Site Rules and Etiquette are suitable grounds for blocking. For a detailed list of the different rules and the consequences of violating them see §1 Site Rules and Etiquette.
3.2. Violating the Editing Policy by Vandalising or Spamming will result in blocks.
3.3. Violating the Discussions, Comments and Thread Guidelines can result in blocks depending upon the severity of the offense.
3.4. With the exceptions noted above, any administrator may block any user that they determine is a detriment to the project. Final discretion is left to the blocking administrator on a case-by-case basis.
3.5. The duration of the block lies solely upon the administrator, proportional to the gravity of the violation committed. For minor offenses, the first block length may generally be less than two weeks.
3.6. Prior to blocking, the administrator will try to warn the concerned user about their actions, though in case of severe or grievious violations this may not be possible and a permanent ban might be awarded.
3.7. After blocking an official message will be delivered to the Wall of the user stating the duration and reasons of the block. Deleting or hiding this is not permitted.
3.8. The Administrator might extend or renew the block if they deem necessary, giving reasons why they decided so.
3.9. Blocks are awarded after a lot of discussion between the Administrators and Bureaucrats. They cannot be unilaterally overturned.
3.10. Serious offences on the Discord server can result in a block on the wiki too.
3.11. The above procedures are not applicable to unregistered users. In case of any rule breaches, they will be straight away blocked for a minimum of three days without any warning or official correspondence. The duration may be greater depending on the severity of the offense.
3.12. Stop and Read Block: This is used to stop editing so the editor can read the admin's issues with the edit(s) performed. Most "Stop and Read Blocks" are set for one day. They are not considered a form of punishment, and will end once the user confirms they read the admin's wishes or when the time given expires.
3.13. If you have been blocked, this is what you can do.

§5 Discussions, Comments and Threads Guidelines

5.1. Be nice and treat people with respect. Keep discussions civil and be open-minded about differing opinions.
5.2. Threads and posts that solicit upvotes and off-topic conversations will be subjected to moderator action such as editing, locking and/or deletion of posts and replies.
5.3. Impersonation of other users or famous people will not be tolerated. If you have been banned and return on a new account, your posts will be deleted and your new account(s) will be banned.
5.4. Spamming, trolling, vandalizing, harassment or posting offensive material of any kind will be deleted and a warning or immediate block will be issued depending upon the serverity of the offense.
5.5. Avoid using foul or abusive language.
5.6. As this is an English wiki, please use the English language to communicate with users as far as possible, or at least provide an English translation.
5.7. Moderators and admins reserve the right to delete and edit posts.

§6 Pathway to Adminship

6.1. The bureaucrats and senior administrators may approach editors who possess the skills and attributes required by the wiki at a given point of time. The final decision on recruitment will be taken by the bureaucrat(s) only.

§7 Discord Server Rules

7.1. General Rules

7.1.1. No spam - This includes but is not limited to loud/obnoxious noises in voice, @mention spam, character spam, image spam, and message spam.
7.1.2. No inappropriate content - This includes gory, sexual or scary content and content which might include screamer links, porn, nudity, death. Profile pictures, nicknames and statuses also have to follow this rule.
7.1.3. No harassment - Including sexual harassment or encouraging any form of harassment.
7.1.4. Mild swearing is allowed as long as it isn't directed towards another member.
7.1.5. Moderators and Admins reserve the right to delete and edit posts.
7.1.6. Mass mentioning (@everyone and/or @here) is strictly forbidden. The concerned messages will be immediately deleted and the poster might be expelled from the server.

7.2. Voice Rules

7.2.1. No annoying, loud or high pitch noises.

7.3. Consequences of Rule Breakage (On Discord Server)

7.3.1. The server uses bots for moderation (specifically, Dyno and Carl-bot) which send a message to the concerned person if several emojis, repeated letters or multiple capitals are used. A report is filed which can be then viewed by the Moderators for action.
7.3.2. Our bots document each and every edit or delete to messages, so no one can get away by modifying their offensive content after posting it.
7.3.3. More serious offences can involve message deletion, a warning or even direct expulsion from the server.
7.3.4. Each and every case will be subjected to the decision of the Moderators and Admins which will be final and binding.
7.3.5. Getting a block or a ban on the wiki is grounds for getting kicked/banned from the Discord server, and vice versa.

The Bureaucrats of the Forge of Empires Wiki will be the final arbiters of the rules in case of any breaches.
