See the Iron Age Strategy Guide for an introduction to Forge of Empires.

Bronze Age is the first one to develop in the game, and is usually fast paced due to the low technology research costs. Be sure to Aid your neighbors for easy Coins. Add as many friends as possible after you research Thatched Houses. Join a guild as soon as you unlock Smithery; you'll produce more Forge Points, pay less to construct buildings, and recruit units more quickly. A guild can also help you get and level Great Buildings, offer advice, and take "unfair" trades (after researching a Goods Building) so you don't waste space and time producing your own Goods. Avoid buying premium buildings; Diamonds are rare and valuable, so don't waste them.

For people who can collect every 5-15 minutes, Huts are the best coin producing houses that don't cost diamonds until the Brownstone House in the High Middle Ages. Build Stilt Houses once you unlock the technology; they provide 8 more population and only 3 less coins / 15 minutes compared to Huts, and they're the cheapest residence to build in the game. Build enough decorations to keep your population enthusiastic.

For people who only login a few times a day, Chalets and Thatched Houses are better options. They produce more coins over longer time periods at the expensive of reduced time efficiency.

Four Potteries generate enough Supplies early on. Fruit Farms are more efficient and you'll need at least one to complete quests, so place them where you have space.

Two Spearfighter barracks can supplement your income, not only for resources but also for medals to get some early expansions. Spearfighters are cheap and very quick to recruit and heal, but they're practically useless against heavy units. You may need to build other Military buildings once you've researched them, but keep in mind you'll replace them in the Iron Age.

Start battling in the solo campaign to collect some extra bonuses. Take the Province of Tyr first to unlock the Bronze Age Tower - subsequent battles will help earn Medals. Once you've acquired a Goods Deposit, you should build the corresponding Goods Buildings when it's convenient. This shouldn't be a priority until you're ready to move into the Iron Age.

Also, remember to stay active. Your city will automatically be deleted if you are inactive for 30 days and have less and 301 diamonds.
