The Hippodrome Sphendone provides population, happiness and produces coins in 24 hours. Depending on the buildings level additional resources like, supplies, Forge Points and goods are added to the production. The coin production is doubled upon motivation and is affected by the town's happiness and by boosts of certain Great Buildings.
In the Hippodrome of Constantinople, the chariot racetrack in modern Istanbul, the sphendone was a curved or hairpin-shaped seating area around one end of the track.
A chariot will roam your city if this building is propperly connected to the Carceres.
The production and bonuses of the Hippodrome Sphendone can be increased by attaching additional tracks to it:
Neither the Sphendone nor the tracks need to be motivated/polished to get the resources of the tracks added to the train.
The amount of tracks added to the building is only limited by the players city size and availability of tracks. The additional tracks have to be correctly aligned and can be attached only to the rear.
Risk of Plunder
As the Hippodrome Sphendone does not produce special resources upon motivation, it has a low priority in the motivation order and will only get motivated randomly with the regular buildings after all special buildings that produce forge points, goods, guild power, medals, or blue prints have been motivated. Use a Self-Aid Kit if you want to make sure your Hippodrome Sphendone (including the production of attached tracks) is protected from plunderers if you cannot collect on time and you have regular plunderers coming along.
The Hippodrome Sphendone can be upgraded by Hippodrome Sphendone Upgrade Kit item. To upgrade the Hippodrome Sphendone, use the Hippodrome Sphendone Upgrade item on the Hippodrome Sphendone that is already situated in your city. Its upgraded version will then be placed directly on the same spot in your city and the production timer will not be reset. Note that the upgraded building will be from your current era, even if the old one was from one of the earlier ages.
