  • Please rename the "Cultural settlements" page to "Cultural Settlements" (Title Case) for consistency throughout the wiki.  It currently has a lowercase second word (settlements) which makes it look sloppy.  I tried to do it myself, but was told the page is locked.

  • Hi, I see you started reorganizing the Special Buildings page. You beat me to it :)

I do have some ideas myself regarding that article. Nothing absolutely refined but I do see problems with the current page. Maybe you can find some ideas from my thought process.

    • First I think that the alphabetical order should be after the main building listings. If the alphabetic listing is needed at all. Actually I don't even see there a reason for it. Alphabetic listing has a function if the player knows what they are looking, why not use the general wiki search function then? If the player just want more information about special buildings then the general building listing is much more beneficial since it gives a summary for each special building. I do find that the alphabetic listing makes the article unnecessarily long.
    • Secondly I would update the building types (decoration, residential etc.). Each special building has type, some have the word "special" written in front of the type, some do not. In this case I think the word "special" is unnecessary since the link redirect to the general type page. Also some of the building types are wrong. For example the Wishing Well which officially is "Random Producing Building" not "Production Building". I did page for Special Production Buildings and I'm planning to do one for all types of special buildings. Maybe we can implement those links into the article also.
    • The third opinion is that the page is way to spread out. In some cases I only see information about 3 buildings on my full HD screen. Some buildings have long description and that is fine, however the text below the image on the new layout would make the page even longer for most lines in the table. I think the image and the name should be in different columns, or just side my side. On this regard I think the current/old layout is better.
    • Lastly I had a random thought about making a separate page like "List of Special Buildings" and move the tables to there. Then reorganize the current page by providing more general information about special buildings. Explain different sources (with links to correct section in the List page), explain upgrading and how special buildings are affected by the age. There are actually a lot more information that could be added.

If you need any help, just let me know.

    • Hi Diisel,

I recommend you read the comments on the Special Buildings page regarding the need of the alphabetical list.

I also recommend you think about all the lists you're creating, they all need to get updated and the way you're listing it provides a lot of redundant info. Instead using links to articles that contain that information and categories that automatically list the information provides the same info, without redundancy and a lot of extra work for the editor.

There is a reason for the difference between 'decoration' and 'special decoration'. Decoration acts like any ordinary decoration, 'special decoration' offers something extra that isn't typical for a decoration.

I agree on the Wishing Well (and Victory Tower, and there are more), but I would group them under one name, otherwise they will become 'one building categories', like Victory Tower is listed as Medal Producing Building.

  • how do i defend my city? i have 8 in my army, but every time im attacked i only have 2 defending units when i watch the replay?

    • Hi Anacreon,

For game related questions you best visit your local forum, you can find a button for it ingame. This is the unofficial Wiki, we are not related to Inno.

About city defense, you will have to select units for your defending army:

      • PC: open your military window, click on the blue 'defending army' button and select 8 units for your army.
      • App: I'm not sure, but I believe you have to click on a unit and then select the option to add it to your defending army.

      Hope this helps,

  • Hi Mr. Quib, I've just seen your recent changes on LMA recurring quests and got a question. There are 2 types of recurring quests:

    1) Quests that appear with the same names during all ages (like Fnord or R'lyeh). There is a small amount of them, it seems convenient to have separate pages for them, and those pages are already described quite full.

    2) 24-hour production and recruit recurring quests. They need separate pages for different ages cause they ask to produce new items or recrute new units in each age. However, they look almost identical (quest givers' texts, requrements, rewards), and so far there have been very few such pages added in this Wiki. Should we try to create such pages for all ages or is the table describing all of them enough?

    • Hi Bobikz,

As these 24-hour quests have different quest names, I'd go for seperate pages, so players can always search on quest name. It would be ideal if the whole recurring quest page has the layout of the BA table, with all quests listed and linked.

On a different note, I will undo some of my own changes and make sure loop quests are categorized in 'recurring quests' as well as 'loop quests'.

  • Hi, I see you added the Category:Military Boosts. Currently it kind of conflicts with the Great Building bonus Military Boost. I think that might result in some confusion. The first idea I thought to resolve this would be to rename the category for example to "Unit Boosts". Maybe you have a better idea.

  • Hi. I saw you changed the names of the pages for Attacker Boost and Defender Boost to Attack Boost and Defense Boost. I think that can be a little bit misleading. Firstly the game itself referes those as Attacker Boost and Defender Boost. Secondly "Attack boost" can be missunderstood as a boost that increases the attack value even for defending units. It boosts the attackers not the attack. Same goes with the defender boost.

    • Regarding the GB table on both Attack boost and Defense boost: I'll add the template to the table header and change Boost into Military Boost. The text could then be 'Provides x% attack and defense boost'.

  • I was thinking about joining the level 1 and level 2 building pages for each of the buildings in the Cherry Garden Set. It actually does not make much sense to treat those upgradeable buildings different than the others. For example the Emperor's Entrance is currently redirect to Emperor's Entrance Level 1 and the Emperor's Entrance Level 2 is a standalone page.

I think it would be more in line with other upgradeable buildings to move the contents and redirect the level 1 and level 2 pages to Emperor's Entrance original page.

It would also help to clean the infoboxes of those pages, those are kind of a mess right now if you want to use those to navigate between the buildings.

What do you think about that idea?

P.S. I have changed my name.

Since this is a unofficial Wiki, you'll never get a 100% accurate answer / article. We're not an official FoE site or intend to be, info will be changed by Inno and articles will always need updating (like the pre-Tholos buildings updates and the new appearance of some upgrade kits). If a person needs 100% accurate info they can check ingame or on the official Wiki.

I do understand that but that doesn't mean we shouldn't thrive to that goal.

When an infobox doesn't mention a road connection consider it correct until proven otherwise, it can always be edited when needed.

I guess the problem is with me. I just don't see the reasoning why this information should be hidden. Most of the buildings that do not require the road connection have that already written in the infobox but the line is just hidden in those cases.

A line in a infobox that states that "yes, this building does not need a road" would not be cluttering the infobox. That would be relevant information about that building. That is my only point here.

      Mr.Quib wrote:
What information do you mean? Some lines have become outdated since the new portable infobox format, so it might be connected to that.

By "A lot of information" I meant that most of the buildings have the information about not needing the road connection written in the infobox but the line is hidden. I was not pointing out some overall problem.

With a change to the infobox template that information could be made visible. If the infobox would follow the example I gave in the last message that would be just a first step to that direction. I'm sure there are buildings that have "0" written in the infobox under the road, those buildings would still skip the road line in the infobox. But a lot of buildings have "no" under the road connection and that could be made visible. It would break nothing.

    • Do you have an example of a page with such info in the infobox?

We do thrive to that goal, and as said you should be able to count on info to be correct. With adding 'no road required', all infoboxes have to be updated, so you still won't know which pages ar updated and correct and which are not. You will keep having this issue, no matter how much info you add to a page or an infobox.

If you really want to add info about 'what is not required', this could be done in the introduction, like the road connection is also mentioned there (most of the time..., still needs updating...)

Edit: I think we're stuck in personal preferences. You're right that the Road=No can be altered to display 'No road connection'. If you desire this, please put a proposal on Pafton's message wall and refer to this conversation as background.
