The Nail Storm is a ranged military unit of the Space Age Asteroid Belt. It is unlocked by the technology Multi-purpose Space Training and can be trained in the Nail Storm Range. Like most other units, it takes 4 hours to train and heals at a rate of 24 minutes per hit point.
The Nail Storm is preceded by the Tesla Walker. Compared to them, the Nail Storm gains 200 attack and 100 defense. It has a slight trade off in mobility: it gains one range whilst losing two movement (practically, they lose one tile of movement and gain one tile of range) and it has the special skills Keen Eye at 25% and Stealth on Rubble.
They are succeeded by the Ghost Blaster.
Usage[]
The Nail Storm is the only reliable unit to fight in this era. Given that 3 of 4 other units have absolutely no range whatsoever, the Nail Storm easily dominates against all other same-age units, simply with its range. Nail Storms and Rogues can reliably be used against all army compositions on auto-battle. They are extremely strong against the Drill Ranger and Shredder with their massive range advantage, allowing multiple hits on them before they can reach them, whilst they take care of the Hover Hammer easily after they have rushed to the middle of the battlefield.
The only units that give it a bit of trouble are fast units that can attack them on the first turn, as well as other ranged and artillery units with the same range advantage.
Against Same Age Units[]
Hover Hammer[]
As the Hover Hammer is a melee unit and cannot attack the Nail Storm on the first turn, the Nail Storm is very strong at countering Hover Hammers with their long range, even though theoretically, the Hover Hammer is supposedly strong against the Nail Storm. After the Hover Hammer has rushed to the middle of the battlefield, the Nail Storm can easily destroy them afterwards.
Nail Storm[]
In this era, the Nail Storm is likely the best counter to the Nail Storm, as they have the highest initiative and can attack on the first turn. It is generally advised to pair them with rogues so the enemy Nail Storm's first attacks are negated. Hidden Nail Storms can prove difficult to kill, however, so to avoid the possibility of taking too much damage in between battles, it may be better to use the Sentinel of the previous era to eliminate them as quickly as possible, or the B.E.L.T. as they have Blast.
B.E.L.T.[]
The match-up is fairly even as both sides have long range and somewhat even attack and defense, though the Nail Storm does have the advantage of being able to strike first when facing the BELT, which proves them stronger against them, as they can eliminate more BELTs on the first turn. However, if they are not eliminated quickly, the BELT can deal a lot of damage to the Nail Storm.
Shredder[]
Having a great range advantage, despite the theoretical bonus, makes the Nail Storm very strong against the Shredder. The Nail Storm can easily attack the Shredder many times before the Shredder can counterattack.
Drill Ranger[]
For the same reason, the Drill Ranger falls easily to the great range advantage of the Nail Storm. However, the Drill Ranger does have quite a lot of movement, so if they are not eliminated quickly, the Nail Storm may suffer from their high attack.
