The Nautilus is the second ranged military unit of the Oceanic Future and are trained in a Nautilus Drop. Nautili can also be received by completing the A Matter Of Time and Rockslide Story Quests, though they can only be acquired in Oceanic Future or higher.
In the Oceanic Future, the Nautilus possesses somewhat weak attack and defense, though they do have rather good movement and range. It has good bonuses against light and artillery units, and they have bonuses on entrenchments and houses, though entrenchments are very rare whilst houses may be all over the place in the Oceanic Future battlefield. It also possesses the special ability Force Field, allowing it to take two less hit points of damage to a minimum of one.
Usage[]
The Nautilus may be seen as a somewhat weak unit in the Oceanic Future due to their low attack and defense, though they do have very good movement and range, allowing them to effectively maneuver around the map, as well as a Force Field ability protecting them from severe damage especially from artillery units with Mortar ability and its heavy and fast unit counters. However, they do have a weak attack and cannot really deal much damage against heavy and fast units, and they are significantly weaker due to their low base stats in the Virtual Future and beyond. They are also very weak against Stealth units, such as the famous Hover Tank, so they are generally seen as less useful.
Against Same Age Units[]
Hydroelectric Eel[]
The Nautilus is very weak against the Hydroelectric Eel due to their massive bonuses against ranged units as well as their strong stats. Even though the Nautilus gains extra protection from their Force Field ability, the Hydroelectric Eel can still deal considerable damage to them and possibly hide in bushes, making the fight difficult for the Nautilus.
Gliders[]
The Nautilus is also very weak against the Gliders, due to the Gliders' massive attack and bonuses against ranged units. They can deal significant damage to the Nautilus (unless negated by rogues), and they take reduced damage when the Nautilus counterattacks.
Manta[]
The Nautilus is very strong against the Manta, as the Nautilus has bonuses against light units and the Force Field ability. Whilst the Manta does have the Contact ability, the Nautilus's longer range means they can avoid it, although the Nautilus should be careful of the Manta's Poison ability as that can still deal some damage to the Nautilus.
Scimitar[]
The Nautilus works very well against the Scimitar, due to their bonuses against light units. Only make sure to space your Nautili or rogues out to avoid multiple Nautili getting attacked.
Sub Cruiser[]
Of the two ranged units of this age, they are somewhat even with each other, though the Sub Cruiser is generally more advantageous because of their Contact ability, despite the Nautilus gaining extra protection from the Force Field ability. The Nautilus should generally avoid attacking the Sub Cruiser unless they are finished afterwards.
Nautilus[]
Against enemy Nautili, the key to winning the fight is simply by having a greater attack and defense boost. There is not much else to it apart from that.
C.R.A.B. Mech[]
Whilst the Crab Mech has low range and defense, their Reactive Armor ability makes the Nautilus limited in attack. The Crab Mech also has a very high attack as well as bonuses against ranged units, meaning they can also deal a lot of damage to the Nautilus, even with the absorbed hit points.
Octopod[]
The Nautilus is very weak when fighting the Octopod, as they not only have very strong attack and defense and they also possess bonuses against ranged units, making the matter worse. Even with the Nautilus's absorbed hit points, the Nautilus can still take a lot of damage from the Octopod, and they are ineffective at attacking the Octopod.
Turturret[]
The Nautilus is a very good counter to the Turturret, due to the fact that the Nautilus can spread out before the Turturret attacks them as well as their Force Field ability protecting them greatly from the splash damage of the Turturret's Mortar ability, though Hydroelectric Eels and Flying units are much more effective when fighting the Turturret.
Medusa[]
The Nautilus is strong against the Medusa, especially as the Medusa's high damage can be reduced by the Nautilus's bonuses against artillery and the Force Field ability, and the Nautilus can easily kill them afterwards. Generally however, Flying units are much more effective when fighting the Medusa.
Trivia[]
The Nautilus in real life is a sea creature that lives in the oceans. In Latin, it translates as shellfish. The Nautilus has existed since the Precambrian period (before the Dinosaurs) and it is still alive today. It has not really evolved much since.
