A Ninja On 1 Health Point.
The Ninja is the ranged military unit of the Virtual Future. It is trained in a Hidden School, but it can also be received by completing the following Story Quest of the Virtual Future: Too Good to be True and It's Still An Arms Race.
The Ninja statistically is reminiscent of the Strike Team and Paratrooper, as all three have the same special abilities Rapid Deployment and Stealth in Forests, and about the same range and movement. Ninjas also have a strong attack and modest defense, as well as bonuses against light and artillery units, including bonuses on various terrain types (which are insignificant).
Usage[]
The Ninja, like any Rapid Deployment unit, should be used as full armies of 8 to maximize its fast initial first strike. They do have drawbacks against its fast and heavy unit counters, as well as units with defensive capabilities, however, and they are generally ineffective against them, particularly with their strong defensive capabilities (such as the Ronin Bot's Force Field ability), and they are not very strong against them, despite being able to attack first. Their Stealth ability is also somewhat useless, as they do not retaliate, and their range is generally not long enough to make it useful. In fact, their Stealth only proves most useful against artillery units, as they have the lowest movement, whilst many other units can easily reach the Ninja on the next turn.
In the Space Ages and beyond, however, the loss of Forests and great statistical increase of all other units of higher eras will eventually make the Ninja retire.
Against Same Age Units[]
Ninja[]
Ninjas can be used to counter Ninjas provided you have yours in greater number to maximize your first initial strike, and eliminate Ninjas before they can do anything. If the battlefield is rather forested, this match-up may go sideways depending on who has the higher ground of Stealth. In most cases, you should not use Ninjas to counter Ninjas.
Warrior Monk[]
The Ninja is generally weak against the Warrior Monk, owing to their massive Dug In and class bonus against the Ninja. After the Ninjas attack, the Warrior Monk can easily finish the Ninja in two hits, even if they are hidden. If your boost is absurdly high, Ninjas do prove somewhat strong against them as long as they are eliminated quickly.
Rocket Troop[]
Up to this era, the Ninja is the best counter to the Rocket Troop, due to their Rapid Deployment allowing them to get the first hit, as well as the Ninja's Stealth making them immune to the Rocket Troop. In absence of forests, however, the Ninja is particularly vulnerable to the Rocket Troop, as their Mortar ability and high damage can easily cause significant damage to the Ninja. Flying units are often better against the Rocket Troop.
Augmented Samurai[]
The Ninja is theoretically strong against the Augmented Samurai, but their Reactive Armor ability does greatly affect the Ninja's effectiveness against them, as they require three hits to be killed, which allows them to deal more damage in their counterattack. As well as this, the Ninja's Stealth is useless against them as they have fast movement and can reach the Ninja rather easily.
Ronin Bot[]
The Ronin Bot is a big disadvantage to the Ninja, as their Force Field ability also seriously limits the Ninja's effectiveness against them. The Ninja cannot deal much damage to the Ronin Bot, whilst exposed Ninjas are easily killed by them. However, hidden Ninjas are generally strong against the Ronin Bot, as they have rather slow movement, but it only proves as a minor hindrance to them. Unless your attack boost is very high, the Ninja is very weak against the Ronin Bot.
