The PvP Arena is a feature for all players of a server to compete and to show their battle progress against other players of the same server on a weekly basis.
Rewards are credited to all participating players in multiple ways. As a chance when doing battles, according to their performance at the weeks end and progress in a monthly personal league. Players not participating for two consecutive weeks are excluded from the feature, but they can always return to it upon request.
This feature is first unlocked when researching the technology Mercenaries in the Early Middle Ages.
The PvP Arena can be accessed via a tower building at the east coast of the northern sea. Before unlocking the feature, the tower will be in ruins.
It is important to note that, like when fighting in Continent Maps, the defending units in PvP Arena will NOT attack Rogues first. That means if the attacking player has regular units in addition of rogues, the regular units will be attacked or killed before the rogues.
After it was tested on Beta since July 13, 2020 for a couple of weeks, it was released on August 31, 2020 only on the EN servers for expanded testing in a live setting. The PvP Arena was temporarily deactivated as of September 7, 2020 on all servers for the developers to rework the idea. On January 21, 2021 the reworked version of the PvP Arena was released on Beta. On May 28, 2021 it was released on live servers.
Attempts[]
In the beginning when the player starts taking part in the Arena for the first time it will be with a bar of 5 attempts [1]. If the bar is filled with less than 5 attempts, a free attempt will be generated every 2 hours. It's an ongoing event, so the attempts are not reset after the rewards are given out each week.
Additional attempts can be bought for 50 Diamonds each, it is possible to buy them one a piece or fill the whole bar with attempts at once. It is also possible to buy attempts using Medals. The cost for the first attempt is given in the table below. Every further attempt will cost 20% more than the one before and the cost resets every week.

Battle[]
The player gets to choose between three different opponents that are selected randomly. For each of the opponents, the system's evaluation of the opponents battle strength (easy, medium, hard), the opponents attack and defense percent as well as the opponents age is given. If there are no opponents available from the player base the system will give an option of an NPC opponent instead.
- Easy opponents are one Age lower than you.
- Medium opponents should be on the same Age as you.
- Hard opponents can be up to 3 Ages higher than you.
Guild members and people from your Friend list can not appear as opponents as they are excluded from the matchmaking.
If the player is unsatisfied with the choice of availabale opponents the refresher button can be used for free, and there will be a cooldown of two hours to be re-used, unless using 75 Diamonds. However, it is possible that upon using the refresh button, the same opponents may appear.
One attempt is used per battle. No matter if you lose or win that battle, the three available opponents will be randomized again.
Army[]
A defending army, independent of the city defense army, has to be set up for the PvP Arena. Also the attacking army has to be set up before using an attempt.
Great Buildings[]
The following Great Buildings do not apply their function in the PvP arena, although they work in other battles:
Non-Player Character (NPC)[]
When there are no suitable opponents to be offered, a random NPC is selected instead.

Ranking[]
Each battle fought provides or deducts ranking points. But as a defender you can only win/lose points up to 5 times a day.
The battle history and the amounts of ranking points gained and lost can be seen in the Log screen.
There are four types of Rankings which can be seen in the table:
Ranking | Type | Description | Reward | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Personal Ranking | Monthly. Points resets every first day of the month. | Ranking against yourself in a Personal League. Only battles when you attack another player and win counts. | Seasonal Rewards | |
Global Ranking | Ongoing with weekly rewards. Points decay every Monday. | Ranking between all participating players in your World. All battles counts. | Global Rewards | |
Age Ranking | Weekly. Points resets every Monday | Ranking between all participating players in your Age. All battles counts. | None | |
Guild Ranking | Weekly. Points resets every Monday. | Ranking between all participating players in your Guild. All battles counts. | None |
In the very first Arena season after release all players start out with an amount of 3000 points for global ranking.
At the end of each weekly PvP Arena, players will experience a 10% reduction in ranking points for global ranking. Unless a player ends up a weekly PvP Arena with less points than when entered in which case the points will be reset to the entry amount.
The exact amount of ranking points rewarded for winning or deducted for losing varies depending on how hard the system has evaluated the battle to be, but it should be somewhere around the amounts in the table. When attacking, the same number of Ranking Points that are rewarded for winning are deducted when losing. Note that as a defender it will be the matchmaking for attacking in reverse.
