The Steel Warden is the heavy military unit of Space Age Mars. They are trained in a Steel Warden Station.
Compared to the Ronin Bot of the previous age, the Steel Warden has approximately double their attack and defense. There is a slight trade off between movement and range, and they possess bonuses against ranged and fast units. They also gain the Keen Eye ability, like other Space Age units, and they keep the Force Field ability. Their initiative value (value determining movement order) is 10.
Usage[]
The Steel Warden is another exceptional unit in this era; their potent defense and Force Field ability allows them to take a lot of damage and they pair very well with rogues, especially with their low initiative, allowing units to move into range allowing the Steel Warden to attack them. In this era, they are strongest against fast and ranged units, and even previous age light units, but they do take quite considerable damage from light units from this age onwards and they are very weak against artillery units as they can cause tremendous damage to them on the first turn. They can even be continued in the Space Age Asteroid Belt if an extra layer of defense is necessary. The Steel Warden's attack is somewhat low; it needs to be supported with a good attack boost to make them more effective.
Against Same Age Units[]
Sentinel[]
The Steel Warden is very strong against the Sentinel, owing to the Steel Warden's Force Field ability which greatly protects them from the Sentinel's first strikes, especially when paired with rogues. In addition, the Steel Warden can easily eliminate the Sentinels on the following turn, making them very strong against the Sentinel.
Tesla Walker[]
For the same reason, the Steel Warden is also strong against the Tesla Walker, particularly as the Tesla Walker deals little damage to the Steel Warden, whilst the Steel Warden can often easily eliminate them after they have rushed into the battlefield to attack them.
Sniperbot[]
The Sniperbot is the biggest threat to the Steel Warden as they can attack the Steel Warden on the first turn and stay out of the Steel Warden's range, making the Steel Warden having to take many hits before they can reach the Sniperbot, which is their greatest weakness against them. As long as Sniperbots are in small numbers, they can still be managed easily without much damage, as long as they are paired with rogues.
Steel Warden[]
Enemy Steel Wardens also pose a threat to your Steel Wardens, as enemy Steel Wardens will also have the Force Field ability which greatly hinders the Steel Warden from effectively eliminating them, which results in quite considerable damage having to be taken before they are eliminated, unless you have a massive attack advantage, or get lucky with the Keen Eye ability.
Space Marine[]
The Space Marine, although a counter to the Steel Warden, can still be managed quite easily by the Steel Warden. The Space Marine only proves a threat to the Steel Warden when they attack them, which can potentially result in many Steel Wardens being injured at once. As long as they are eliminated quickly, however, they should not be too much of a threat.
