The Strike Team is a light unit from the Contemporary Era. They are trained in a Strike Team Center.
Compared to the Commando of the previous age, the Strike Team gains 20 attack and 25 defense points as well as 1 range point. Bonuses on entrenchments and forests are also increased slightly as well.
They also have two special abilities: Rapid Deployment (Starts the battle in a random field on the map. Acts before any other units) and Hides in Forests (Stealth) (When in forest, they can be hit only by adjacent melee attacks).
Although not officially a flying unit, the Strike Team can land and walk on water.
The Strike Team is very similar to the Paratrooper (ME ranged unit), both having the same skills and range and movement and great bonuses against artillery units.
Usage[]
Like the Paratrooper, the Strike Team does possess the ability to both strike on the first turn and hide in woods. They can often deal a lot of damage before the enemy units can strike back at them.
Unfortunately, like the Paratrooper, the Strike Team also has similar disadvantages. The Strike Team has moderately low statistics in the Contemporary Era. They also put themselves at great risk when they attack at the enemy and are oftentimes the first units to die because of it.
Moreover, the Strike Team will be a rather weaker unit in general because of the increased special abilities in same age units.
Against Same Age Units[]
Assault Tank[]
Whilst the Strike Team does have bonuses against heavy units, the difference it makes is rather limited. Now that the Assault Tank also has a new skill (Reactive Armor) that prevents them from taking more than 4 hit points of damage, the Strike Team is therefore quite ineffective against them. Hiding in Forests can be somewhat useful, however, but as forests are often not available, it can be hard to get an effective upper hand against the Assault Tank.
Missile Artillery[]
The Strike Team is extremely strong against large numbers of artillery units, especially if there are a lot of forests. Strike Teams can easily reach them on the first turn and eliminate them before they can attack. Meanwhile the Artillery will struggle to do meaningful damage against the Strike Team and effectively disappear after one attack.
Anti-Aircraft Vehicle[]
The Strike Team is very weak against the Anti-Aircraft Vehicle, especially as the Anti-Aircraft Vehicle has great bonuses against light units and the Strike Team has to face a deadly retaliation each time they attack them.
Attack Helicopter[]
The Strike Team is generally weak against the Attack Helicopter, because of the Attack Helicopter’s bonus against light units. However, Strike Teams can attack first and eliminate a couple Attack Helicopters, or hide in forests to get a defense boost and force a melee attack from the Attack Helicopters, but the Attack Helicopters are generally stronger as they have better general statistics than the Strike Team.
