The Tesla Walker is a ranged military unit of the Space Age Mars. They are trained in a Tesla Works.
Compared to its predecessor, the Ninja, the Tesla Walker gains around double their attack and defense. In the Space Age Mars, they have slightly lowered attack for slightly higher defense, and they have a long range with a rather modest movement. They are oftentimes able to attack on the first turn, depending on whether the terrain is rough or not. They have two special abilities: Keen Eye like all Space Age units at 20%, as well as its unique Blast ability. They also have an initiative value (movement order value) of 25, which is equal to that of the Rocket Troop.
Usage[]
The Tesla Walker is a somewhat underpowered unit in this era; despite being strong against light and artillery units, they are very susceptible to the popular Steel Warden and Sentinel of its era. They do have enough movement and range to reach enemy artillery, light, and heavy units before they move, but in rough terrain, it may be a great disadvantage if they cannot reach them. Their usage against artillery is overshadowed by using Flying units, whilst artillery units often do fare better when fighting light units compared to the Tesla Walker. Its Blast ability isn’t remotely useful, especially as the attack bonus is insignificant and the removal of bushes and forests already makes most previous-age units unable to hide; it only really works against the Hover Tank 4 ages behind for players who are pushing through the Continent Map from significantly lower eras. Its use should be discontinued past Mars as the Nail Storm is the direct upgrade to this (despite not having Blast).
Against Same Age Units[]
Sentinel[]
The Tesla Walker is particularly susceptible to the Sentinel as the Sentinel can attack them before they move. However, if you do have a lot of rogues and a greater boost over the Sentinel, the Tesla Walker isn't particularly vulnerable to the Sentinel, as the rogues can absorb their damage whilst the Tesla Walker can easily eliminate them on the next turn.
Tesla Walker[]
The Tesla Walker may be used against enemy Tesla Walkers provided you have a sufficiently stronger army boost over them and use rogues. If both sides have fairly matched up attack and defense, the Sentinel or Steel Warden is much better at eliminating them.
Sniperbot[]
The Tesla Walker is only situationally strong against the Sniperbot; if the terrain is to their side, the Tesla Walker can attack the Sniperbot on the first turn and weaken them before they can counterattack. However, if the Tesla Walker is unable to attack them on the first turn, the Sniperbot can take advantage of their great attack on the Tesla Walkers. The same problem also applies even when you use rogues. In any case, Flying units are much better than the Tesla Walker when taking out the Sniperbot.
Steel Warden[]
Steel Wardens are the biggest problems for the Tesla Walker; the Steel Warden's defense and Force Field ability is a great disadvantage to the Tesla Walker, particularly if both sides have fairly matched up attack. As well as this, the Tesla Walkers also present themselves vulnerable after moving/attacking the Steel Warden, making them inconvenient in auto-battle with rogues.
Space Marine[]
The Tesla Walker counters the Space Marine adequately, even if the Tesla Walker isn't able to attack them on the first turn, as their long range allows them to get many hits on the Space Marine before they can attack the Tesla Walker. However, some do find it more convenient to use artillery units instead, as they have a better range advantage, particularly as sometimes, the Tesla Walker doesn't move away once the Space Marine comes in range.
