The Warrior Monk is a fast military unit of the Virtual Future. It is unlocked by research the technology Combat Traditions. It is trained in the Warrior Monk School.
The Warrior Monk is a rather special unit in the Virtual Future: they have the fastest movement in the game, but a melee range. They have moderate attack and defense, as well as bonuses against ranged and artillery units, but the highest Heat and Dug In bonus in the game. They also have an initiative of 50, which is tied with Recon Raiders, but lower than Hydroelectric Eels, Gliders, and Sentinels (initiative is the value of movement order).
Usage[]
The Warrior Monk is a fairly useless unit in the Virtual Future, due to its melee range. Despite this, they do have the highest movement and Dug In bonus along with the Heat ability, which makes them stand out in a comical way. They fall very easily to light and heavy units, as they can retaliate against the Warrior Monk, but they are very strong against ranged and artillery units, particularly as their Dug In bonus accounts for their great success. However, unlike other fast units around their age, they cannot attack on the first turn and they are not Flying, so they are especially susceptible to artillery units, particularly the Rocket Troop.
Against Same Age Units[]
Ninja[]
The Warrior Monk is very strong against the Ninja, particularly as the Warrior Monk takes very little damage from them and can easily eliminate Ninjas on the following turn (this is even better when rogues are paired to ignore the initial damage from the Ninja). As the Warrior Monk is very fast, they have no problem whatsoever reaching hidden Ninjas as well (not that it does anything anyway as the Warrior Monk is a melee unit).
Warrior Monk[]
Warrior Monks can be used to take out Warrior Monks, which is especially effective when paired with rogues, as Warrior Monks can retaliate against themselves, so this results in an easy victory as the rogues can retaliate upon transformation, and finish the enemy Warrior Monks on the next turn, provided you can two hit kill them.
Rocket Troop[]
The Warrior Monk is strong against the Rocket Troop, but they are not exactly the best solution, since they cannot always attack the Rocket Troop on the first turn, whilst the Rocket Troop can potentially cause significant damage to the Warrior Monk, especially when they clump up together to attack the Rocket Troop. It is better to use Stealth or Flying units against them instead. Their bonuses and Dug In may prove somewhat useful, but in higher attrition, this effectiveness will fade away.
Augmented Samurai[]
The Warrior Monk is very weak against the Augmented Samurai, primarily due to their significant bonuses against fast units, as well as having to receive retaliation from them as well. In addition, the Augmented Samurai's Reactive Armor ability is also a severe hindrance from the Warrior Monk quickly eliminating them as well.
Ronin Bot[]
The Ronin Bot can easily take out Warrior Monks, right after the Warrior Monks have moved, as the Ronin Bot has a long range as well as bonuses against fast units, making the fight more favorable to them. When the Warrior Monk does attack the Ronin Bot, they deal reduced damage due to the Ronin Bot's Force Field ability and will have to receive retaliation from them as well.
